CHAS NP Residency Receives Programmatic Accreditation

Transitions from Pre-Accreditation to Accreditation

The National Nurse Practitioner Residency and Fellowship Consortium (NNPRFTC) is pleased to announce the accreditation of another postgraduate Nurse Practitioner residency:  CHAS Health’s (CHAS) NP Residency Program headquartered in Spokane WA.  The CHAS NP Residency transitioned from Pre-Accreditation to programmatic Accreditation for the full 3-year period.  The current trainees will be considered to have completed an accredited program. Click here to read the press release.

CHAS Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) opened its door to the communities in Spokane, Washington, in 1994. Between 2014-2018, CHAS nearly doubled in size. In 2017, CHAS served over 73,000 patients, and had a 15% growth rate. Projection for growth remains the same for the foreseeable future, but insufficient primary care providers are available to serve these patients. Therefore, as part of a strategic pipeline, CHAS created the CHAS Health Nurse Practitioner Residency Clinic (NPRC), which opened in the Spokane Valley in August 2017. The NP Residency is designed to provide newly graduated primary care nurse practitioners with a 13-month program designed to enable these residents to grow and strengthen their knowledge, skills and confidence in the provision of care to patients in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).  The NPRC, dedicated to the residency program, is the first of its kind in Washington.
