Consortium Board Member, Mitchel Erickson, DNP, BSN, MSN, ACNP, is awarded the AACN’s Excellence in Advancing Nursing Practice Award

American Association of College of Nursing Announces Mitchel Erickson, DNP, BSN, MSN, ACNP, has been selected as the 2022-2023 recipient of the AACN's Excellence in Advancing Nursing Practice Award!

Dr. Erickson was nominated and selected for his doctoral work on “Assessing the impact of structured medication reconciliation on older adults in the Emergency Department.” In 2020, he began his doctorate at UCSF SON DNP program to focus on the quality improvement in geriatric emergency medicine.

A board-certified acute care nurse practitioner who has practiced as an emergency medicine provider for 25 years working on a hospitalist service and in primary care. Dr. Erickson is the first in several of his clinical and leadership roles. He was the first to occupy and develop the role of UCSF Health’s Chief of Advanced Practice, overseeing 600 APPs for 4 years prior to retiring. Following retirement, he was recalled to optimize a 3-year collaboration between the Department of Emergency Medicine and Division of Geriatrics to create an age-friendly model of care in the emergency department utilizing APPs. Dr. Erickson is currently serves as the Chair of the California Board of Registered Nursing’s APRN Advisory Committee, and consults for the Los Angeles Department of Health Services.
